Silent Reflection During Advent
The experience of the past 20 months has been a challenge and finally coming out of this feels like a rebirth. As we regain our footing and step out into a world that can feel both familiar and unfamiliar, the path forward is not so clear. We are seeking a return to familiar routines, socializing with friends, and reconnecting with family. I found myself wondering what it is we lost during the past year and a half, but also, what we have found. Can we explore together what we have found, and more importantly, what are we seeking and how are we preparing our hearts in anticipation.
I offer an opportunity that might help set ourselves up for clarity on this journey. During this Advent season I invite you to explore your expectations for one hour each day from December 1st to December 24th. If you can, spend an hour in silence and explore the messages, the energy, the love, the ‘aha’ moments that come when we empty ourselves of the noise and thoughts within us.
For those who are believers of the Gospel, the Advent season is not new; and those who are seeking, the Advent season is a time of expectation of the birth of Jesus. This invitation to come into silence for an hour each day leading to Christmas can create clarity and a clear path as we become silent and wait in anticipation for the answers that will come.
Spending an hour in silence can seem overwhelming at first. If an hour is too much, try breaking it down to 15 or 30 minute segments. To help, you will receive a prompt each day for the next 24 days that will give you some guidance on how to spend your time in silence.
O’ come and be expectant as we share together this wonderful season.
Peace and Blessings,
Joanne
